Hey guys!  I hope you all are having a lovely week.  So, it is finally August, and for me and many others around the world, that means one thing: back to school.  I am quite excited to go back to school, but also have really been enjoying this Summer and don’t want it to end!  Let me know in the comments if you are starting school soon and what your thoughts are about it!

So for this week’s post, I decided to do something that fits with the back-to-school theme: a desk diy!  I think this one in particular is perfect for anyone who doesn’t have a lot of space in their room but really wants to have a place dedicated to work once school does come around; I personally just love having the option to move around my room- sometimes I’ll work on my bed, then move to my chair, then over to my desk, or even work on the floor.  This diy is also pretty cool because it is super cheap and something anyone can do.  So let’s get to it!

  1. First, you will need the “desk” itself.  I used this floating shelf from IKEA (which I got for $7.99).  It is not the biggest shelf to be honest, but it’s big enough for my purposes.  If you want a larger shelf and have the space for it, IKEA, Amazon, and Target have lots of other good floating shelves, too, although I have found that IKEA’s are the most reasonably priced.  When hanging the floating shelf, just follow the instructions provided and make sure you screw the shelf into a stud so it is sturdy and will support whatever you choose to put on it.
  2. Now, let’s talk chairs.  I have had this blue stool for years and can’t remember where I bought it from, but again, IKEA has great ones that are pretty similar like this one here.  I do have to say that chairs with backs are probably more comfortable, but are definitely more expensive, so if you want to invest a little bit more into this project or already own a comfy chair that would work, you could upgrade to a little bit of a nicer chair.
  3. And, of course, decorations.  I have just two things hanging up above the desk: a box calendar, which is super cute, that I got from Kohl’s, and a makeup brush holder that I have converted into a pencil holder. These are just a few options, though; you could hang up pictures, little quotes, a mirror, you name it.  Also, because this is such a small space, I would definitely take a look around at items that are supposed to go into lockers; they are all over stores right now and fit really well into the space. As you can see I had a little bit of room next to my desk so I placed R2-D2 next to it just as something kind of fun and for display.
  • So that is all! I really hope you enjoyed reading and do let me know if you try this diy! Thank you so much for reading!!
